Personal Information

When you use Foxylingo, we collect certain personally identifiable information to provide you with our language exchange services. This information includes:

  • Account information: email address, name, username
  • Profile information: profile pictures, gender, bio, birthday, country
  • Language preferences: native languages and languages you're learning
  • User interests and content you share through the app

Non-Personal Information

Like many online services, we collect information that your device sends whenever you use our Service ("Log Data"). This Log Data may include information such as your device Internet Protocol ("IP") address, device type, app version, the features of our Service that you access, the time and date of your usage, time spent on various features, and other statistics.

In-App Purchases and Foxy Coins

Foxylingo offers in-app purchases for PRO Subscription, Foxy Coins, and Shuffle Boost features. These purchases are processed through the Apple App Store payment system. The App Store may collect certain information related to transactions, such as purchase receipts and unique identifiers, for the purpose of processing and validating in-app purchases. Foxy Coins are consumable virtual items that cannot be refunded once purchased.

How we use the information we collect

Personal Information

We use the personal information we collect to:

  • Create and manage your Foxylingo account
  • Provide the core language exchange functionality including matching you with language partners
  • Enable the Shuffle feature to help you discover language partners
  • Allow profile sharing through unique URLs
  • Process your in-app purchases and maintain your Foxy Coins balance
  • Send important service updates and notifications
  • Improve and personalize your experience with the app
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with our Terms of Service

Non-Personal Information

Generally, non-personal information is used internally to monitor and improve the Service, to perform analyses of user behavior, to measure user demographics and interests, to enhance our language matching algorithms, and to analyze how and where best to use our resources. We do not combine Non-Personal Information with Personal Information except as needed to provide the core functionality of our Service.

How we share the information we collect

Public Profile Information

Foxylingo is a language exchange platform, and certain aspects of your profile are visible to other users, including:

  • Your name, username, and profile pictures
  • Language proficiency information
  • Bio, interests, and country
  • Last active status

When you use the "share profile" feature, a limited subset of this information will be publicly accessible via the shared URL on the Foxylingo website.

Other Information Sharing

We may share certain information with third-party service providers to help us operate, provide, improve, and support our services. These service providers are contractually obligated to use your information only for providing services to us and in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

We accept advertisements from third-party ad networks which may be displayed in our Service. We may share certain information with third-party advertisers, ad networks and ad platforms ("Advertising Entities") to develop and deliver targeted advertising in the Service.

User Control Over Information

Foxylingo provides several ways for you to control how your information is used:

  • Profile visibility: You can disable "show me on shuffle" in settings if you don't want to appear in the shuffle feature
  • Blocking users: You can block specific users to prevent them from seeing your profile or contacting you
  • Account deletion: You can request to delete your account and associated personal data

We take reasonable measures to maintain the security and integrity of our Service and prevent unauthorized access to it or use thereof through generally accepted industry standard technologies and internal procedures. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with our services. In the event of an illegal act or legal dispute, all data will be stored within the period specified by law under the Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 (KVKK) for submission to judicial/law enforcement authorities.

You can request deletion of your account at any time through the app settings or by contacting us. Upon deletion, we will remove your personal information from our active databases, though some information may remain in our archives for legal purposes or to prevent fraud.

Children's Privacy

Foxylingo is only intended for users who are at least 16 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 16 years of age. If we become aware that a user under 16 has created an account, we will take steps to terminate the account and delete any personal information.

International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than the one in which you reside. These countries may have data protection laws that are different from those in your country. We implement appropriate safeguards to protect your information when it is transferred internationally.

Compliance with laws and law enforcement

We reserve the right to share your information with third parties if we believe such action is necessary in order to: (1) conform with the requirements of the law or to comply with legal process served upon us; (2) protect or defend our legal rights or property; (3) investigate, prevent or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person or violations of the terms and conditions of using our Service.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By using the Foxylingo ("the Service"), you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you may not use our Service. All individuals and organizations using the foxylingo.com website and/or the Foxylingo iOS applications are deemed to have accepted these terms.

2. Use of the Service

2.1 Age Requirement

All users of the foxylingo.com website and/or the Foxylingo iOS applications must be at least eighteen (16) years old.

2.2 Account Creation

To use Foxylingo, you must create an account with accurate, complete, and up-to-date information. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.

2.3 In-App Purchases

The Service offers in-app purchases including PRO Subscription, Foxy Coins (used to send "Super Stars"), and Shuffle Boost (increases visibility). All transactions are processed through third-party services, and users are subject to the terms of those services. Foxy Coins and other consumable items are non-refundable once purchased.

3. User Conduct

3.1 Prohibited Activities

Users must not engage in any unlawful or harmful activities while using the Service. This includes but is not limited to unauthorized access, data mining, posting pornographic content, engaging in illegal gambling, or any activity that could damage, disable, or impair the functionality of the Service.

3.2 Content Guidelines

Users are responsible for the content they create or share within the app. Content that is illegal, harmful, offensive, or violates the rights of others is strictly prohibited. If someone sends inappropriate content such as +18 pictures, it is not allowed and can be reported to our moderation team.

3.3 User Responsibility

Members and users of this platform are solely responsible for their statements, uploaded photos, messages sent to other members, and all materials used in their profiles. The actions of users are not the responsibility of Foxylingo.

4. Intellectual Property

4.1 Ownership

The Service, including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, and images, is the intellectual property of Foxylingo. Users are granted a limited, non-exclusive, and revocable license to use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes.

4.2 User Content License

Members and users declare and accept that they own the intellectual property rights (such as writings, photos, videos, poems, cartoons, melodies, etc.) used in their profiles or sent to others, or that they have the necessary rights and permissions to use, distribute, and publicly display them. Otherwise, they are solely responsible for any claims or legal actions directed at foxylingo.com and its administrators.

5. Privacy and Data Handling

Information collected includes user profile data, messages, and language preferences. In the event of an illegal act or legal dispute, all data will be stored within the period specified by law under the Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 (KVKK) for submission to judicial/law enforcement authorities.

By using features like "share profile" and "shuffle," you consent to having certain profile information publicly accessible within the app and on the foxylingo.com website.

6. Features and Services

6.1 Language Exchange

Foxylingo provides a platform for language learning and exchange. Features include profile creation, messaging, and language practice opportunities.

6.2 Shuffle Feature

The Service includes a "Shuffle" feature that shows users randomly to other users. Users can control their visibility in Shuffle through their account settings by enabling or disabling "show me on shuffle."

6.3 Profile Sharing

The Service allows users to share their profiles with others via URL. This means some small information of a user will be publicly shown on the foxylingo website to help redirect visitors to the app profile.

7. Termination of Service

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend access to the Service immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason whatsoever, including without limitation if you breach the Terms. Users who violate our content guidelines may have their accounts banned.

8. Changes to Terms and Conditions

We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. Users will be notified of any changes by posting the updated Terms on the Service. Continued use of the Service after any modifications will constitute acceptance of the new terms.

9. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Turkey. No content that violates the Constitution of the Republic of Turkey, the Turkish Penal Code No. 5237, Law No. 5651, or other applicable laws and regulations may be posted or shared on the foxylingo.com website or mobile applications.
